Shopify published its Fall '26 Edition on 28 October 2026. It is a long list, so here are the parts that matter most to a store owner, using only what Shopify has said. Some items are in early access or have no stated availability yet, and we say so. This post was published on 30 October 2026.

The changes that touch your store

      • Canvas. A visual workspace for designing a whole online store with Sidekick, Shopify's AI agent. It shows every page together, and you can click an element to edit it or ask Sidekick to make the change. Shopify says it is now in early access, and that Canvas is not replacing the existing editor yet.
      • Rebuilt Sidekick. Shopify says it can run calculations, write code and search the web, with your approval for changes.
      • Shopify Protect. Fraud and chargeback tools in the admin, with a rule builder for fraud rules you write yourself. Shopify also describes AI help for putting together dispute evidence.
      • Seven new local payment methods. They are added to Shopify Payments and work in online checkout. The announcement does not say in which countries.
      • Campaign Autopilot. The changelog says it is now available to all merchants, in the Growth tab. It can run campaigns on Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Snapchat, Shop and Shopify Messaging. It can suggest SEO changes that you review and approve.
      • Agentic page for AI shopping. A new page under Sales channels lets you review the store facts that AI agents receive about your shop.
      • Redesigned admin. A new look, collapsible navigation and a floating Sidekick chat.
      • Shop Promise. A free program with delivery and returns badges. Shopify says it is for eligible stores in the United States only.

The announcement also covers shopping on Shop, Shop Pay inside AI agents, and tools for developers. They matter less for a store that is not yet selling at scale.

      What to do now

      • Do not change your workflow because of Canvas yet. The current theme editor stays, and Canvas is in early access.
      • If your store uses a custom theme, ask your developer to open it in Canvas before you rely on it. Shopify says Sidekick works directly on the files of the theme, so a clean, well-organized theme should help.
      • Open the new Agentic page, once it appears in your admin, and check that your delivery, returns and product details are right. AI agents will read those facts.
      • If you sell in the United States, Canada, the UK or Europe, look in your payment settings for the new local payment methods. Shopify has not said which countries get them.
      • Review any SEO suggestions from Campaign Autopilot as you would from a person. Check the title, the facts and the tone before you approve.
